The Resource Room is led by Mrs. Skordos. She has been in this position for ten years, and enjoys working with small groups and with kids one on one. Mrs. Skordos works with any child K-8 who has an IEP or needs an intervention in Language Arts or Math. Working in conjuction with the classroom teacher, she utilizies a variety of methods and programs to achieve growth. Some programs include:

Mrs. Flores currently works part-time at SJB with any child who resides in a home where English is not the primary language AND is not proficient in one or more language areas on the WIDA Access for ELLs test. The Access for ELLs is an English language proficiency test, given in January or February, that measures student's academic English language skills. The four language domain areas students need to score proficient in to pass are:
Listening, Speaking, Reading , Writing
Students achieve growth in these four language areas and ideally "test-out" or master the test by scoring a Composite Score of five or above.

Mrs. Day offers extra reading and math help to K-5 students who qualify. Students work in small groups with a teacher during the school day to practice these skills. The science of reading and phonics skills are the focus of the reading groups. Math groups focus on fact fluency and current math standards.
